Thermosetting monomers generally exhibit low viscosity, making it easy for the end user to blend monomers and to use additives and reinforcing materials that can optimize the performance of the cured thermoset to meet the needs of individual applications. This chapter describes the underlying principles that may be used to understand the materials science behind the choice of thermoset materials for specific applications.
