• A discussion covers important commercial direct oxidation processes, e.g., the epoxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide and the newer epoxidation of butadiene to epoxybutene (EpB) both carried out with silver catalysts; synthesis of the first stable surface oxametallacycles; direct connections between surface oxametallacycles and epoxide products; oxametallacycle formation from EpB; and the chemistry of oxametallacycles.
