• Improved upper bounds to the ground-state energy are reported for the linear-chain antiferromagnetic spin- 1 2 Heisenberg model with both first- and second-nearest-neighbor interactions. In addition estimates of a ground-state long-range-order parameter relevant to spin-Peierls transitions are given. 1982.
