  • We demonstrate a straightforward way to lithographically fabricate Mn 12 -acetate thin film patterns on Si/SiO 2 surfaces, a significant step in light of the chemical volatility of this organic complex. Atomic force micrographs show low surface roughness. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data and magnetic measurements of the Mn 12 -acetate film indicate properties reminiscent of crystalline Mn 12 -acetate, suggesting that this approach can be used to fabricate lithographically patterned devices of Mn 12 -acetate. 2004 American Institute of Physics.
