abstract
It is shown theoretically that the semilinear phase conjugate mirror exhibits bistability when it is "seeded" by a weak external pump beam. Full hysteresis in the output intensity is obtained when the "seed" intensity is swept through the two-stable-states region and the coupling strength is below the self-oscillation threshold. 1991 Springer-Verlag.
