Electronic health records have created a cornucopia of health data that can be used for patient care, quality improvement, and disease surveillance. The ability to share health data is important to open the doors for health innovation, individualize patient care, and advances in national and global public health. However, sharing this data comes with several technical and legal issues. This webinar is designed to describe modern health data exchange and the legal implications of sharing data during disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. Speakers also plan to address privacy concerns and issues related to complex data sharing agreements.
