abstract
The authors investigated the transdermal permeation efficiency of genistein through abdominal human cadaver skin and the effect of permeation enhancers dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), olive oil, and alcohol on the permeation efficiency of genistein. Permeation parameters such as the flux and permeability coefficients were determined. DMF, DMSO, and olive oil (5% v/v) provided enhanced permeation when the concentration of genistein was 10 mg/mL. Alcohol (5% v/v) failed to provide any permeation enhancement of genistein. No genistein permeation was observed without enhancer.
