• The exact mode expansion is derived for the electromagnetic field in a spatially dispersive model dielectric occupying the volume 0<~z<~d. The dispersion relations for the transverse as well as the longitudinal waves are deduced and the nature of the modes is briefly discussed. 1971 The American Physical Society.
