abstract
A model developed that shows the possibility of superluminal propagation through coherent manipulation of a Raman process was analyzed. It was observed that the superluminal propagation could be achieved by applying a control field so that the Raman gain peak splits into a doublet thereby producing anomalous dispersion in the region. It was also found that the large superluminality could be applied in a Bose condensate also. The results show that the values that were derived were sensitive to the relaxation parameters and control field detuning.
