Starting from a phenomenological Hamiltonian, the quantum theory of second harmonic generation is discussed. An exact Fokker-Planck equation, which describes the quantum statistical properties of the pump mode and the second harmonic mode, is derived. This equation is solved in one case and some physical implications are discussed. 1969.
