abstract
The method to realize the basic-qubit logic gates and the controlled-NOT gate was discussed. The method used a detuned optical cavity interacting with a three-level Raman system in analyzing the logic gates. The logic operations were demonstrated using the ground states of the atoms. It was observed that the operations of the logic gates were not affected by the spontaneous emission because the logic gates involved metastable states of the atom.
