Pulse propagation in phaseonium Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • This paper reports results of a study on pulse-pair propagation through a coherently prepared medium (Phaseonium). The model consists of a A system, where the excited state |1 can decay at the rate 2 out of the system. Through numerical simulations of the coupled Schroedinger-Maxwell equations, this paper addresses the question of how universal is pulse matching in a coherently prepared medium. Specifically, this paper shows the sensitivity of pulse matching to the intensities of the input pulses, and the breakdown of the adiabatic approximation at large Rabi frequencies. The results also reveal the spatial evolution of initially unequal pulses into matched pulses.
