Dark states and interferences in cascade transitions of ultracold atoms in a cavity

The one- and two-photon processes in ultracold atoms in a cavity were discussed. The effect of two-photon emission on the mazer action in the cavity was studied. It was found that two-photon transition can always be induced in an excited atom when its one-photon transition is forbidden.
