abstract
Separating the two polarization components of a linearly polarized pulse using the anisotropic properties of a coherent medium was discussed. A control field was applied such that one component of the pulse became ultraslow while the other component's group velocity was almost unaffected by the medium. The analytical and numerical results were presented to support the functioning of such a coherent medium as a polarization splitter of pulses.
