abstract
Four different types of response functions are used to derive the generalized Ewald-Oseen extinction theorem and the integral equation for the treatment of scattering of electromagnetic waves from a material medium. No surface terms appear explicitly in the integral equation. The present formulation is specially suited for perturbation calculations since the response functions, which appear, are not necessarily the ones corresponding to free space. 1976.
