Effect of probe field strength and the fluctuations of the exciting laser on the asymmetry of autler townes doublet Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The theory of an optical double resonance experiment in fluctuating laser fields is formulated using the theory of multiplicative stochastic processes. The asymmetry of the Autler Townes doublet is studied for a variety of the values of the laser bandwidths, Rabi frequencies associated with the two transitions. It is shown that the probe field strength and the bandwidth of the exciting laser jointly determine critically the doublet's asymmetry and its reversal. 1979.
