Improving the fidelity of quantum cloning by field-induced inhibition of the unwanted transition

A proposal is given on how the fidelity of a V system-based quantum cloner can be improved by inhibiting the spontaneous emission effects on the unwanted transition. This is achieved by applying a classical coherent field, which cycles the atom in the state |e2> to some other metastable state.
