We develop a theoretical framework for calculating the spectrum of resonance fluorescence emitted by twolevel atoms that are excited by a strong bichromatic field. The dressed states for the two-level system that is interacting with a fully modulated field are identified, and the spectral features are interpreted in terms of transitions among these dressed states. 1991 Optical Society of America.
