abstract
Among the different kinds of solution-adaptive methods, the control-function approach has proven to be very powerful in the numerical simulation of fluid-dynamics problems. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how the solution-adaptive method can be applied to 1-D, 2-D and 3-D flow using the control-function approach based on a line and arclength strategy. A new strategy for the choice of weight functions and the selection of the parameters used in the method is presented. Applications to the solutions of the 1-D Burgers equation and the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations (both 2-D and 3-D) are included. 1993.
