abstract
A study was performed on metal-catalyzed epoxidations of alkenes with hydrogen peroxide. It was shown that various nonobvious strategies have emerged to facilitate clean heterolytic activation of hydrogen peroxide. It was found that partition coefficients between two solvents, or the solubilities in homogeneous media, can differentiate good from poor epoxidation systems.
