abstract
This paper presents an experimental investigation of the film cooling performance of a hybrid film cooling scheme using thermochromic liquid crystal technique. The scheme includes two consecutive film hole configurations with interior bending. The cooling performance was analyzed for blowing ratios ranging from 0.5 to 1.5. The bending effect of this scheme throttles the secondary flow causing it to spread widely over the downstream surfaces, and consequently enhance the film cooling at both low and high blowing ratios. The results showed that the hybrid scheme augmented the centerline and laterally averaged film cooling effectiveness compared to other schemes in literature. 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
