ANALYSIS OF THE COUNTERCURRENT BACKMIXING MODEL FOR FLUIDIZED BED REACTORS. Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Several modifications (e. g. inclusion of cross flow, bubble size variation with height and different boundary conditions) of the countercurrent backmixing model have been made, and their effect on predictions of conversion for a first order reaction in an isothermal fluid bed catalytic reactor have been studied. It was found that the effect of cross flow is relatively minor, while the effect of change in boundary conditions is more pronounced. Some constraints on values of model parameters and operating conditions have been revealed, and their effect on the reactor performance has been examined.
