abstract
An 18-year-old male patient was admitted as an emergency following multiple trauma. His conscious level rapidly deteriorated. He became hypoxic, developed decerebrate posturing and a petechial rash. A clinical diagnosis of fat embolism syndrome was made. The literature has been reviewed and the cerebral magnetic resonance imaging findings are described and discussed.
