This chapter describes first the basic concepts pertaining to assessment of fatigue reliability of structures. Various cases of practical interest regarding the stress and strength variations are considered. The reliability assessment of composite structures is discussed next. Here the subject of major interest is the statistical modelling of the strength of composites. The degradation of strength under fatigue loading is then treated and a damage-mechanisms-based model is described. 1991 Elsevier B.V.
