Photoluminescence spectra of germanium at high excitation intensities Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • We present here experimental and theoretical results concerning the photoluminescence spectra of intrinsic germanium under 1.06 m pulsed excitation at temperatures 295 and 174 K. At 295 K with increasing excitation level, the peak of the spectrum shifts from 1.76 to 1.54 m, corresponding respectively to the indirect and direct energy gaps. We present results of a fundamental calculation that accounts for the above behavior and the emission band shape. 1976.
