abstract
We investigate the physical origin of the sub-natural line narrowing in the resonance fluorescence spectrum of three-level atoms in the V-configuration. The mechanism that is responsible for this phenomenon can be best understood from an analysis of the time evolution of the dressed coherences and consideration of the structure of the atom-field dressed states.
