Influence of the pumping statistics in lasers and masers Academic Article

abstract

• We derive a master equation which takes into account the statistics of the pump in masers and lasers. We find that in the maser, the photon number noise can be reduced up to 50% below the shot noise limit. In contrast, in the laser case, the maximum reduction is 25%. 1989.
