abstract
In previous studies a linear analysis was given for degenerate and nondegenerate noninversion lasers. The analysis gives the gain but not the steady-state intensities and cannot determine which intensity is stable. Another question is the influence of the intensity on the cancellation of atomic absorption. The linear theory of a noninversion lasing problem for both nondegenerate and degenerate cases is briefly summarized.
