abstract
A recent claim that forbidden nuclear beta decay can, by the application of a high-intensity radio-frequency field, be enhanced by many orders of magnitude is contested. The effect is shown to be nonexistent, at least within the theoretical model which has been adopted thus far. 1984 The American Physical Society.
