Laser-induced nuclear anti-Stokes transitions revisited Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • It is shown that any noticeable enhancement of nuclear gamma decay via a laser-induced anti-Stokes transition requires resonance between the laser frequency and the transition energy from the nuclear initial state to the intermediate state. Recent claims that gamma decay can be measurably enhanced by visible laser radiation which is off resonance by five or six orders of magnitude are contested. 1984.
