Postfracture formation evaluation Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The influence of fracture length and conductivity, drainage area size and shape, and formation permeability is detailed. Also, modeling techniques for postfracture production are analyzed, including dimensionless solutions to flow equations and finite-difference reservoir simulations. To allow comparison of unfractured- and fractured-well production forecasts, prefracture production forecasts are also discussed. Flow regimes in hydraulically fractured formations are treated next, followed by a discussion of postfracture transient test analysis techniques. The effects of nonideal conditions, including fracture-face damage and water blocking are also dealt with.
