  • Terminalia arjuna (arjuna) has been used widely as medicine in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The chemical constituents reported from this plant belong to different classes such as tannins, triterpenoid glycosides, cardenolides, sapogenins, flavanoids, phenolics, phytosterols and salt of calcium, magnesium and zinc. Arjuna has a number of medicinal uses. Many of which have been verified and expanded by scientific methods. This review article summarizes the chemistry and pharmacological profile of arjuna.
