abstract

  • OSA 2018. A chip-scale glucose sensor was developed using nitride optical waveguides. The label free detection was conducted at = 2.70 - 2.81 m and 3.50 - 3.70 m because these spectral regions overlap with the characteristic O-H and C-H stretch absorptions while being transparent to nitride. For a glucose covered mid-IR waveguide strong intensity attenuation was found at > 2.73 m and a detection limit better than 0.5 ng is experimentally demonstrated.
