abstract
The mouth is the most common site for infections in pediatric patients and in no other site do infections present a broader clinical spectrum. These infections range from clinically undetectable incipient dental caries to a fulminating life-threatening cellulitis. The purpose of this paper is to review the clinical oral manifestations, criteria for diagnosis and treatment regimens for the various oral infections seen in pediatric patients. The most common infections affecting modern man are dental caries or tooth decay and periodontal disease. 1984 by the Williams & Wilkins Co.
