Weather Variation and Climate Change Impacts on Power System Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 2017 IEEE. Erratic weather patterns are the vital challenge to the existing power system infrastructure. It is critical to understand how to mitigate the weather impacts on mid- and long-term planning efforts. Yet, it is not typical for utility industry to incorporate weather data to perform the analytics and correlation to determine the impact of weather variation and climate change. In this paper, we analyze maximum temperature as an example to demonstrate the weather variation and climate change impact on the summer peak load in Harris County, Texas, USA.
