The evaluations revealed that the following roadway and traffic control device characteristics are associated with higher yielding: ?. When the distance being crossed is shorter. ?. When a median refuge is present. ?. When the crossing has only two legs (rather than four legs). These findings support the general belief that pedestrian- friendly designs are associated with traffic operating conditions that are more supportive of walking.
