Simulation of the time courses of CO2 concentration in the culture vessel and net photosynthetic rate of Cymbidium plantlets Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • A simple model was developed to show the hourly net photosynthetic rate for Cymbidium plantlets in responses to CO2 concentration inside a culture vessel, photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) outside the vessel and plantlet temperature with consideration of CO2, and light compensation points. The time courses of CO2 concentration inside the vessel culturing a Cymbidium plantlet and daily net photosynthetic rate (daily net production of photosynthesis or daily CO2 exchanges) of the Cymbidium plantlet were simulated using the above model in cooperation with the other model. The simulation results generally agreed with experimental data in the literature and indicate the usefulness of computer simulations in determining the optimal physical environment to maximize the production of in vitro plantlets.
