abstract
Livestock grazing impacts the watershed through removal of protective cover and trampling disturbance. Resulting effects may include altered water quality, increased overland flow, reduced soil moisture, and increased erosion. Consequently, improper livestock grazing management effects may be manifested as a nonpoint source of pollution and may ultimately result in loss of productivity from rangelands. The paper reports on a study to determine the influence of livestock grazing on vegetation, mulch, bare ground and rock cover, bulk density, organic matter, aggregate stability, infiltration, and sediment loss.
