abstract
A new species of Fosshagenia Surez-Morales & Iliffe, F. suarezi, is described from anchialine caves in Grand Bahama. It is compared with F. ferrarii Surez-Morales & Iliffe which has been re-examined. The two species are considered closely related, mainly distinguished by the fifth legs of both sexes and by the genital double segment of the female. Owing to the close relationship of Fosshagenia to Temoropia T. Scott it is inferred that its ancestors may have invaded caves from plankton in deep water.
