abstract
The half removal time of 228Th from the surface waters by settling particles, tc, does not change much with season, except in the winter when regenerated 228Th as well as 210Pb and 210Po were transported back to the surface water from the bottom water and/or near-shore sediments. The removal of 228Th and 210Pb from the surface waters of New York Bight by phytoplankton-zooplankton-fecal pellet route is not important in the shelf but is important in the slope areas. The removal of 210Po is almost entirely associated with the phytoplankton-zooplankton-fecal pellet pathway throughout the New York Bight. 1981.
