abstract
Center pivot irrigation systems are discussed which are extensively used on the Texas High Plains. It is shown that chemigation provides the grower another use of the center pivot and makes it a multifunctional machine and more viable investment. The development of low energy precision application (LEPA) irrigation systems with chemigation capability is described. It is demonstrated that applications of appropriate amounts of fertilizers and pesticides by the irrigation system often reduces crop production costs while protecting the user and the environment.
