abstract
Pronounced difference in the behavior between poly(benzyl ether) dendrimers and linear polymers was observed upon micromachining with the tip of an AFM probe. This study investigates whether the observed difference was indeed caused by the difference in their molecular architecture. In order to validate the comparison between these two architectures, the exact linear analogs of poly(benzyl ether) dendrimers, of the same chemical composition, and approximately the same molecular weight, are synthesized.
