abstract
Pd-impregnated zirconium phenylphosphonate was prepared and applied for the catalytic C-C coupling reaction. Various amounts of palladium in the range 0.5-2 wt % was loaded on zirconium phenylphosphonate by ion-exchange/impregnation. These catalysts exhibited good activity and selectivity towards the Heck coupling of bromo-benzene and styrene. The kinetic studies indicated that there are no diffusion limitations during the reaction. Leaching of palladium during the reaction was studied. Separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture and its reusability were investigated. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 229th ACS National Meeting (San Diego, CA 3/13-17/2005).
