The Gortler instability of boundary layers over wavy surfaces is analyzed. The numerical integration of the parabolized disturbance equations is carried out for cases where the wall curvature is periodic and includes convex curvature. The results show the significant stabilization in the convex region as well as the creation of additional vortex pairs of opposite rotation to the primary instability. Within the limits of the formulation of the Gortler instability mechanism (ie weak curvature and high Reynolds numbers), it is shown that the Gortler instability is not globally important in the case of wavy walls.
