NEW INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING SIMULTANEOUSLY HEATING VALUE AND RELATIVE DENSITY (PMI GB-2000). Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Recent developments in the technique for direct measurement of gas relative density and heating value have allowed the implementation of new methods in a field instrument. These new methods of direct measurement have the advantage of rapidly providing continuous relative densities and heating values. This is particularly important when the composition can change rapidly and simultaneous measurements of different variables must be combined, such as in a flow computer. The focus in this paper is on laboratory tests which compare the precision of direct measurements with measurements based on chromatographic analysis. This has been done at the laboratories of Lone Star Gas in Dallas on samples of varying natural gas compositions from their system. The data have been analyzed to assess the relative precision of the methods.
