NEW APPROACH TO EQUATION OF STATE DEVELOPMENT FOR PURE COMPOUNDS. Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Recently, A. E. Liu proposed an equation of state which started as a differential form and which was integrable. He applied his equation, with good results, to several pure components. The unique features of this equation were: simplicity, horizontal isotherms in the two phase region, and rigorous description of the critical region. The authors have utilized the differential form to develop a superposition function to use with any equation of state in the region T//R less than equivalent to 1. 0. The resulting expressions retain all advantages of A. E. Liu's earlier equation, but provide superior results. The new form has also been applied to carbon dioxide and report preliminary results.
