abstract
Natural gas is the fastest growing primary energy source for the world today. A discussion covers the rating of a MCHE or the prediction of its performance based on historic data; modeling MCHE as a superstructure comprised of two-stream exchangers; use of a mixed-integer nonlinear programming approach to select the best network that describes an existing MCHE; and validation of the proposed model using historic plant data from an actual main cryogenic heat exchanger. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2006 AIChE Annual Meeting (San Francisco, CA 11/12-17/2006).
