abstract
Assess thickness of sediment within three resacas (oxbow lakes) in Brownsville, TX by analyses of extracted sediment coring which will be used to determine the depth of the pre-impoundment surface for each core. Multiple cores per resaca will be collected and analyzed and the thickness of the impoundment fill will be used to develop both isopach maps to estimate the entire fill volume as well as accumulation rates for each resaca.
