Polarized single-crystal ultraviolet and visible specular reflectance spectra and Kramers-Kronig-transformed absorbance spectra of Cu(pc)I and H2(pc)I allow clarification of metal-based charge-transfer transitions, especially when compared with earlier results on Ni(pc)I and Co(pc)I and recent calculations. Earlier out of plane assignments have been confirmed, and some modified assignments are proposed for in-plane transitions, including the well-known Soret transition. © 1992, American Chemical Society.
