abstract
The problem of heat transfer by simultaneous conduction and radiation in an absorbing, emitting and scattering medium of plane parallel geometry has been previously solved by various numerical methods. The present study was undertaken to solve this problem using the Gakerkin finite element method. Results are presented for temperature profiles and heat flux at one boundary for both steady state and transient cases.
